Topology is a journal published by Elsevier. In the summer of 2006, the nine editors of Topology resigned to protest the high prices established by Elsevier, and announced the formation of a new Journal of Topology owned by the nonprofit London Mathematical Society and to be published by Oxford University Press.

Elsevier currently plans to continue operating Topology with a new editorial board. However, as of the August 2007 online issue, Topology continues to list the old editorial board, even though they have resigned. It is not clear what is being done with papers submitted to the journal at this time.
